Domestic heritage tourism is an accessible, popular and sought-after form of leisure in modern Russia, especially at the local and regional level. To expand its themes and popularize the historical and cultural heritage of the Russian Federation among the general population, it is proposed to create tourist maps of notable people that display objects of tourist interest and infrastructure in connection with personalities that played a significant role in the history of Russia as a whole or its individual part. The article describes the accumulated experience in the field of mapping historical events in relation to a specific person. The concept of historical notable people maps is revealed. The concept of tourist notable people maps is introduced. The history of the development of tourist maps classifications by Soviet and Russian cartographers is described. The objects of mapping when creating notable people maps are defined, the features of their selection are outlined. The procedure for selecting a mapping object when designing a notable people map is described. The place of notable people maps in the existing classification of socio-economic maps is indicated. The experience of designing a map of the journey of Emperor Nicholas II through the cities of Central Russia in 1913 is described, which is considered by the authors as a prototype of a notable people map. Conclusions are drawn about some features of the design of notable people maps.
